Prevent COVID Burn-Out: Get Outside!

Prevent COVID Burn-Out: Best Practice #4 for Attorneys Working from Home in the Pandemic

What many people don’t know is that “burn-out” has officially been recognized by the World Health Organization as an “occupational phenomenon” and can be characterized by three dimensions1:
  1. Feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion;
  2. Increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one’s job; and
  3. Reduced professional efficacy

Best practice #4 can help you reduce these feelings.

Get outside!

Experiencing the great outdoors has been proven to reduce stress.2 Since you’re not in the office, try to get outside when you can! This can be during mental breaks – getting outside for a quick walk between meetings – or even during working sessions. This simple action can improve your mood, help clear your mind, and reduce overall work-related stress.
