Prevent COVID Burn-Out: Embrace Family Time

Prevent COVID Burn-Out: Best Practice #2 for Attorneys Working from Home in the Pandemic

Embrace time with family

Even before the impact of COVID, many attorneys at solo/small law firms struggled with work/life balance. During COVID, this challenge has only intensified.

This may sound ironic but embrace the time with family, especially if you have a spouse or child also confined to the home. Although there are many challenges to working from home with family members present, include your family members in things like:

  • Mental breaks
  • Walks
  • “Water cooler” conversations

This can help some attorneys reduce the burn-out factor by letting them experience things they’d otherwise miss by being at the office, such as a family lunch, bonding with children, or coffee with a spouse.
